We took the boy to see the Mouse a few weeks ago. The excitement all started on the ride there. Daddy thought it would be a great idea to give him a sip of Juicy juice. This would be the first taste of sugary goodness that he has ever had. After the first initial sugar rush, he was hooked. He flailed his arms, and kicked his feet, and spent the next twenty minutes mad that there was no more left in the juice box.

It was an interesting day of observation. He had to look at everything. It was as if he was trying to absorb it all. Well, everyone knows a theme park is non-stop on the sensories. Of course, he enevitably became cranky thanks to the lack of sleep, and the crash from the sugary goodness. But, all in all it was a great day! It did produce this fantastic picture.

The storm before the storm....

After weeks of deciding what would be the perfect costume for the beautiful one, I finally decided that Mon, Dad, and Baby would be the Rubbles. You know, of the Flinstones. Luckily Grandma sews, and has made my crazy wishes come true for, what? Twenty one years...give or take 10. Anyway, so the above evidence that my son was born to play this role. Do know, that of the 300 plus pictures we took on Halloween, this was the only one with a smile.
The Storm after the storm was our very first cold. Stay tuned, we are still riding out those waves.

The promise of an everyday blog...

Isn't it easy to say that you will blog on a daily basis. That is, of coarse until you actually have to do it. It has been about six months since my last confession father. OK, so I have learned how to exaggerate a little. It has been quite a while. The photo attached should prove that. It has been slow in the Etsy world and we have been steady, but not successful enough to keep me from having to look for a job in the ever slowing economy. That is ok though. I have high hopes. I will survive. And, with any luck, there is a change coming....in just a few weeks....so get out there and vote!
How lucky am I to have an angel right here on Earth!

Noise cancelling headphones would be fantastic!

Tonight will be our first attempt at laying the boy down after he eats and waiting for him to sleep on his own. Sounds simple enough, right? Well, it is only 9:41 pm and he is already really cranky. As I type, he is doing my favorite whine. I am sure that in the next hour I will need to set up the monitor, so we can watch the red line shoot to the highest setting, all the while, listening to some calming music on my headphones to avoid his sad puppy dog cry. Wish me luck...if all the books are right, maybe only a week of torture until he sleeps a respectable 6-8 hours without waking.

Today marks the day of our first sale with the new line of fabric! We have started out with 7 bolts of glorious Erin Mc Morris Park Slope fabric from Free Spirit. We also snuck in one bolt from Anna Maria Horner as well. It has been a busy few weeks with getting all of the buisness stuff in order. We ordered the first line, and was told a 7-10 day turn around for it to be shipped out. What a special surprise when it only took 5 days to get it at my door. We have started to post it on Etsy, aling with the de-stash that is forever being posted. Since we made our first sale, I have some pictures of the line and the first cut...If you want to see our shop, visit:

Happy shopping!

The Excitement begins

After always wanting to be my own boss, it might actually be happening soon. Although technically, I will be starting the venture with my mother. So, actually it will be like it's always been. She will be my boss. I know what you're thinking. Working with your mother....not my idea of a good time. Well, our relationship is not like that of most mother-daughters. We actually have a great relationship! She is my mother, and my friend, and now my partner. For now, staying at home with my son is the best blessing I have. But I can't wait to have something that will benefit my family first. With that said, I will be posting daily to let everyone know the trials of starting this adventure. I am sure they will be interesting... plus, the boy is growing so fast...you will need more frequent updates.

The elusive first smile caught...

After months of waiting for it to happen, the boy now smiles almost non-stop. It is pretty much the best sight ever seen. After waiting patiently for this to occur, the next step was to catch it on film. Good luck with that. There were countless pictures with contorted faces that even a mother would not want to post. Every time you thought you had it, not so much. Then, in the most unlikely spot, it was captured. While flying to St. Louis, I was taking random pictures to commemorate his first flight, when the magic happened. I got several shots. I win! It may have taken what seemed like forever, but you tell me it was not worth the wait...

This is the life...

Oh, how swimming at 15 weeks can be so exhausting! After a solid fifteen minutes of pool time, the boy was so pooped he had to take a nap. And where is the best place for this? The hammock of coarse. Now if only we could install one in the living room...

Mother's Day

Today I experienced my first Mother's Day. It started out without having to wake up for the boy all night...Not a Mother's Day miracle, but a miracle husband! Sleeping in until 7:30 was the first present. Then we got up, visited some of the other mothers in the family, and then it was present two...getting to go out with my mother sans the boy. As luck would have it, it seems like Father's Day came early too. The boy was an angel all day for my husband. Took a solid three hour nap until it was time to visit his grandmother and great grandmother. Then it was two hours of smiles and giggles for the onlookers. Not a typical day for me, but would I expect any different. And then the third present. Our first swim...Seems as though it is as we expected. The boy loved the pool! He even seemed to float all on his own as Daddy held on to his tiny little fists! Super cute and unforgettable! Can this kid get any more adorable?

Technologically Challenged

Most things we do on the computer are fairly common sense. Usually I can figure them out through trial and error. Sometimes, a lot of error before success, but I will eventually get it. Today I was trying to remember what buttons I randomly pushed on my camera last time to take a picture in Sepia. Trying everything, I was at a loss. But in the search, I found something even better. Who knew the camera that my husband spent hours and hours researching did such cool things. It looks like I am a professional...or at least paid one an outrageous amount to make this photo two toned. I have always wanted to learn Photoshop, but now I don't need to. Good thing, because I am sure I would not be able to figure it out either!

Day two

Today's blog is written at 10:10pm because it has been my first free minute all day! We had a rough day today since Jonathan, that's the boy, has a not so normal, normal routine. Most parents have to change 3 to 20 poop-filled diapers a day. Not my kid. We are blessed with one every other day. I am sure most parents would feel like that was the best baby ever... But, thanks to this very specific pattern, the boy has an upset stomach for about 47 of the 48 hours in between the special deliveries. I could be exaggerating, but the timetable seems accurate to me. Today was one of these days. The package arrived around 7:30pm this evening, and since about 8:00pm, he has been sleeping like a....very content baby. But up to that point, not so happy. At least there will be sleep at night. Now to figure out how to get the boy sleeping through the night. Even a 4 hour cycle would be exciting to me. I think that would be a great 1st Mother's Day present! I'll keep my fingers crossed.

The three month long blog....

In true first time mother fashion, it has taken almost three months to start the blog I have been talking about. After having my first baby, (see picture at top of page) a month early, lets just say that I was a little unprepared. As a matter of fact, I had him on the day that was marked for my baby shower. As this is my kind of luck, at least we delivered in a hospital that didn't mid a ton of visitors, since the shower was sort of impromptu and in my hospital room.
Since then, we have started to fall into a routine around the house. He seems to only have a cranky day every few days. Unfortunatly, I am the kind of person who likes to keep busy, and right now, that seems impossible since I am really just betting the bare essentials completed. The normal day consists of the following:

Wake up
Feed
Burp
Change
Bounce
Cry
Feed
Sleep
Repeat

Although, it all seems worth it for the half smile he is starting to make! Counting down the minutes for a giggle...
