Sew Mama Sew Giveaway Day!

I haven't posted in quite a while, and what better way to try to get back into the groove than a giveaway.

Sew Mama Sew  is hosting their annual Giveaway Day, which actually runs from the 12th through the 16th, at 5pm PST. Since there are so many blogs participating, it gives you time to check out as many as possible and sign up to (hopefully) win great stuff. Winners will be chosen by random number generator, and  notified by email (please make sure yours is available) by 12/18, and this post will be updated with the winners name. We will ship anywhere in the world.

Up for grabs here are ten (10) fat quarters from "The Woodlands" collection from Khristian A. Howell for Anthology fabrics. Khristian is a great designer and has designed other collections for Anthology as well.  We carry some of her lines, including The Woodlands in our shop. Just leave one (1) comment telling me your favorite family tradition for the holidays. We're looking to find ways to create memories with the boy.

And just in case you just have to have these fabrics, or anything else we carry, we are offering 20% off your fabric purchase in our shop through Saturday, 12/17/2011. Just use coupon code SMS20 at checkout.

I'm going to go check out some of the other posts!  Thanks for stopping by! Happy Holidays!

Welcome back to blogland - are you here for a wee while? Hope so!

My Mum buys my Chookie a tree bauble every year and we have them displayed on a little gold metal tree of her own. They're nice wee memories of how she was at every Christmas and what she was interested in.

We have visits from our house nisse (gnome or elf) for the month leading up to Christmas. This tradition started when my brother and I were children and was inspired by the book Gnomes by Wil Huygen. http://www.amazon.com/Gnomes-Wil-Huygen/dp/0517270730/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1323703909&sr=1-1

As kids, we were always allowed to open one gift on Christmas Eve. I always felt sad for kids that had to wait until the morning - that one gift before bed helped to calm the nervous excitement that makes it hard to fall asleep as a child!
While not a 'tradition', our rule on Christmas morning was that all 5 kids had to be awake before we could drag mom & dad out of bed. hehe

annmacp said...

We have our family dinner on Christmas eve, and the dessert is a Danish rice pudding with whipped cream and chopped almonds folded in. Whoever finds a whole almond wins a prize! Over the years we have added more than one almond, and usually if an adult finds one, he or she will slip it to a nearby child.

Our favourite Christmas tradition is decorating the Christmas cake. Our 3 boys have been responsible for the icing decorations on the cake since they were small (the youngest is now 22). Every year they set to making winter scenes from icing to place on their third of the top of the cake, and even now that one is married, the wife and the others' girlfriends join in too. They are not the most elegant cake toppers but they signal Christmas to the whole family!

We pick out a special new ornament for each child every year. I write the year on the ornament box so we can put them on the tree in order and talk about them. This year my sons getting a firetruck ornament because he's fire obsessed! It'll be a great reminder in years to come!

Thanks for the giveaway :)

We always bake a fruit cake together. I hate fruit cake, but I love spending time with the family.

We celebrate Hanukah, and one night was always a "family gift" like a board game or tickets to a show.

Everyone takes turns to choose a present from under the tree, which can't be to or from them and we open one at a time :)
