Sew Mama Sew Giveaway Day!

I haven't posted in quite a while, and what better way to try to get back into the groove than a giveaway.

Sew Mama Sew  is hosting their annual Giveaway Day, which actually runs from the 12th through the 16th, at 5pm PST. Since there are so many blogs participating, it gives you time to check out as many as possible and sign up to (hopefully) win great stuff. Winners will be chosen by random number generator, and  notified by email (please make sure yours is available) by 12/18, and this post will be updated with the winners name. We will ship anywhere in the world.

Up for grabs here are ten (10) fat quarters from "The Woodlands" collection from Khristian A. Howell for Anthology fabrics. Khristian is a great designer and has designed other collections for Anthology as well.  We carry some of her lines, including The Woodlands in our shop. Just leave one (1) comment telling me your favorite family tradition for the holidays. We're looking to find ways to create memories with the boy.

And just in case you just have to have these fabrics, or anything else we carry, we are offering 20% off your fabric purchase in our shop through Saturday, 12/17/2011. Just use coupon code SMS20 at checkout.

I'm going to go check out some of the other posts!  Thanks for stopping by! Happy Holidays!

We have an advent calendar that's a box with little doors. Each day my girls open it to find a character of the nativity. We went chronologically with the story and have explained it each day. By now my 3 & 4 year olds know the Christmas story.

Thanks for the chance to enter!

When I was young, my parents did this thing we called The Christmas Elves or something like that. Everyone picked a name out of a hat on the 1st of December, and you were that person's 'Elf' for the month - you were supposed to do nice things for them. You could leave little gifts, or clean their room, or do their chores, etc. Then you guess who had who on Christmas! I will definitely do it with my kids if I ever have any! Thanks for the giveaway chance! (Julie: gotthebutton (at) me (dot) com)

Beautiful fabrics! The only tradition I'm doing with the kids is have them make a small gift for everyone. I'm hoping they enjoy giving as much as receiving!

I love our traditional meals and all the symbols that stayed in the family during the decades like putting hays under the table (as a symbol of Jesus on the hays in his crib), getting a honey crucifix sign on the forehead from the eldest woman at the table (to be sweet as honey all next year), eating garlic with honey and altar-bread at the beginning of the meal (to be healthy all next year).. I could go on but don't want to bore you :-)

Making lefse with my daughter, then spreading it with butter, cinnamon and sugar, rolling it up, heating it for a few seconds in the microwave and then eating it.

as kids, my parents always left 1 present unwrapped under the tree, no tags - that was the gift from Santa each year! it was always fun to see what it would be and figure out which of us kids it belonged to.

One of my fave traditions was always going to cut down our tree from the tree farm with my dad - he'd always let us pick, and my mom would tease us all about how lopsided/patchy/Charlie Brown-y it was!

The tradition of making ice candle holders and then giving them as gift to your friends and family for them to use Christmas eve might not work when you live in Florida!

My favorite tradition is baking orange cinnamon rolls on Christmas morning, which my mom did when I was a kiddo. Ya know, I just thought of one more that I might start this year with my kids, and that was being allowed to open one gift on Christmas Eve... hmm... :o)

We always decorate the tree together as a family, and it's a wonderful evening of music and yummy treats and laughs and stories...and we always wait until the week of Christmas so that it's really special.

I love Christmas Eve service at church, then riding around afterwards to look at the lights.

Lisbeth said...

My favorite holiday tradition is the way my family opens Christmas presents, on-at-a-time, starting with the youngest and working our way up, before circling back around to the youngest again for the next round. It's great because everyone gets to see what everyone else got, and it last so long that it stretches the fun out!

Beautiful fabrics - thanks for hosting a giveaway!

My favorite tradition of Christmas is when all the family gathers together for a mid-day dinner and exchange presents. This year I will get to watch the faces of 3 grandnieces having their first Christmas. Pecan Pie is my favorite treat.
