Relief at Last!
I'm happy to report that the mini quilt I made for Emma finally arrived, and was well received . It's always a little nerve wracking waiting for it to go halfway around the world, (Australia). I am so happy that she liked it. I can only aspire to her level of quilting.
Now to anxiously await the next round, DQS10.

DQS9 Swap Quilt Received
I received my mini quilt from the amazing Desi last weekend. I love it so much. She really nailed this one for me. I think she really was stalking me. As a thank you, I'm popping a little surprise in the mail for her tomorrow. I hope she likes it as much as I like my quilt!
Now I just have to keep waiting to hear if the quilt I sent to my secret DQS9 partner arrives. I hope she likes it as much as I like mine. I'll hopefully get to show the finished quilt to you all soon.

DQS9 Swap Quilt
Just a little peek at my swap quilt. It has to be finished tomorrow, and in the mail Wednesday, as it has far to travel. I had a hard time finalizing the design for this one, as my original idea just wouldn't come together. Just too far out of my personal box I guess. All I have to show for that try is about 24 three inch squares, and a basket of scraps. Oh well, it's a learning experience.
Here's a close up shot of some stitching. I definitely need a new machine. Now back to work!
I have one more surprise addition to finish! Note I said surprise!

The Great Big Stitched Postcard Swap
I received my stitched postcard from Cathie in Australia last weekend. I finally gave up on a sunny day, and took the pictures today in the gloom. She sent me this lovely handmade postcard inspired by this quilt she saw on my blog. She also sent a lovely handmade brooch and a recipe for chocolate freckle hearts, from her blog.
I can't wait to try them. I am sure that the boy will love them. Thanks so much Cathie!

Me? A winner?
A few weeks ago, much to my surprise, I was the winner of a copy of City Quilts, by Cherry House
and a lovely fat quarter bundle of Kona cotton from Robert Kaufman. Cherry was having a blog tour to introduce her book, and so we could find out a little more about her. I was the lucky winner on Stefanie's blog. Well, this week, all my winnings arrived. Thanks to Stefanie, Cherry,(C&T Publishing) and Robert Kaufman. I can't wait to find time to make something.

the Great Big Stitched Postcard Swap
Here is a follow up to this post if you are interested. The above pictures are of my contribution, and if you go here you can see the others as they arrive at their destination. I really love postcard swaps. They are fast, and fun, and it's amazing how much creativity can be packed into a postcard sized quilt. This swap was actually mixed media, with stitching, but my media of choice is fabric, although I did use some heavy scrapping paper for the back. So there you go, a mini, mini quilt.

DQS3
Well, I'm finally back. It's been quite an exhausting, hectic month. The last week in April, the boy got some cold/flu bug,and was kind enough to share it with Gramma and Grampa. I was quite sick the first week of May,and for Mothers day, my daughter, and my adopted (informally) daughter, took me out to a lovely lunch that I couldn't taste. And of course business in the shop picked up quite a bit, this month, so that wore me out as well. This week is the first week I have started to feel better.
I did finish my placemat for DQS3 Inspiration by Comfortstitching !
and I received an adorable one from Kristine
Love those stars! I can't wait for the next one, this was too much fun. It's funny how liberating it is to make a quilt for someone else.

One down, too many more to go!
I find that I'm a great starter of projects, but a lousy finisher. Some of it is clearly my fault, and some isn't. Not that there is really someone else to blame. First of all, I nanny the boy 36 hours a week. And that doesn't include nights out for his parents. (which are sleepovers, which kill an evening and a morning). On top of that I run the etsy shop, which takes 4 to 8 hours per day depending on volume of business. And there's still housework and laundry and cooking and........, you get the picture. At least a good portion of a weekend day is spent shopping, as I can't get out during the week. As a result, I have many unfinished projects, and little time to sew.
Three weeks ago, I decided to commit to finishing one project a week. the pictures below are the result of week one's finish. Week two's project is finished and I hope to take pictures this weekend. It happens to be my zig zag quilt from RRBC's quilt along. I also finished a pair of PJ's for myself, and all the pants hemming for my daughter. (4"11") This week I don't think I'll get to finish an already started project, but I hope to make my bee block for "a Rosey Little Bee" make a little something for the Easter/May Swap on ORBC, and maybe start my project for the placemat swap. Next week I'd like to quilt the "Wonky Squares" quilt we did on ORBC with Quilt Dad. Then the following week I can focus on the "Circles Quilt" we did with Heidi. I may have to put aside the "Pinwheels Quilt" for a bit so I can start on the "Hexes" with Julie. I will have to see if I can do that one in pillow size.
If only I could stop having ideas. It's kinda hard to do when I look at fabric all the time. I just keep seeing great quilts to start. Did I mention that I hate the quilting part?

Who's the lucky one?
Before the day gets too hectic, I thought I'd pop in and post the winner of the book and fat quarters by Denyse Schmidt. Normally, the boy would be the Random number generator, but he is not here today. And as we've seen before, he likes to eat the evidence. Excuse me while I hop on over to get the winner................... I'm back! Here is the lucky number...

Doll Quilt Swap 8
Just thought I'd take two minutes to show what I've been working on when I have some free time. I am participating in my first Doll Quilt Swap (DSQ8) and I have been working on a quilt for my secret partner. I have some embellishing left to do, and I'm binding it in red dupioni silk. I am amazed at all the beautiful quilts, and all the awesome talent behind them. I can't wait to receive mine. The suspense is gonna kill me. Stop on by our Flickr group(click on the button at the right) and see all the quilty goodness.

Think Pink
Well, the Holidays are finally over, and I think I'm starting to catch up a little. The boy is going to have his second birthday in about 2 weeks, and he seems to be able to play by himself for 15 or 20 minutes at a time now. That gives me time during the day to process a few orders here and there. Maybe even do some dishes. I've even managed to do a tiny little bit of quilting this week after he goes home and I finish processing the shipping on the orders. Now if I could stop signing up for more stuff to do. :0]
This week I made three pink blocks for http://teamtiara.net/ Quilt for a Cure.
Dana from http://www.oldredbarnco.blogspot.com/ organized and is putting together some donation quilts from members of our flickr group http://www.flickr.com/groups/oldredbarncoquiltalong2009/ .
Stop by and see the blocks, or participate if you so choose. We also have a quilt a long in progress and a new one starting next month "Pinwheels". Feel free to join in. We are a fun group.
